Creators!!

Basement Metaphors is a blog spot that was created by Luis, and Steven. The two meet at Broward College in a computer class. Their love of Hip Hop and music in general lead them to create an outlet for the Real and Underground Hip Hop movement. What they hope to accomplish through Basement Metaphors is a place for other people who are passionate about Hip Hop can come and discuss topics, share ideas and express themselves through Hip Hop.

Luis “Fino” Alvarez was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico and grew up in Caguas, Puerto Rico. While in Puerto Rico, Luis was influenced by the local rap scene. Puerto Rico being a Mecca for Latino Hip Hop and has a very strong underground hip hop scene. Luis moved to the U.S. at the age of 12 and it was easy for him to distinguish between the mainstream and real MC’s that the U.S. had to offer. Staying true to his roots Luis still listens to MC’s that rap in Spanish as well as English.

Steven “Villain” Pierre-Louis was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti but unfortunately after political violence broke out his parents moved to Florida while he was 2. Steven was put on to rap by his older brother who at the time was listening to albums such as Illmatic, Enter the 36 Chambers, etc.. As Steven got older he was surprised to see how big of a rap scene Haiti has and enjoys listening to Creole Hip Hop and French Hip Hop as well as in English.
